Job Title: Trainer
Reports To: Club Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for running the Planet Fitness group fitness program ( ). This includes assisting new members in achieving their fitness goals by designing a simple workout program and instructing them on the proper use of equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct and run the program, including creating and following a schedule.
- Consult with members regarding their fitness goals and instruct them on proper and safe equipment usage.
- Create creative and unique ways to promote class sign‑ups.
- Produce bi‑weekly updates consisting of a variety of exercises.
- Meet class requirements based on club size and member traffic.
- Assist with front‑desk related activities, including:
- Answering phones in a friendly manner and assisting callers with a variety of questions.
- Checking members into the system.
- Handling new member sign‑ups.
- Taking potential members on tours.
- Changing and updating member account information.
- Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner, elevating to Team Lead, MIT, or Club Manager as needed.
- Help maintain the neatness and cleanliness of the club.
Minimum Qualifications
- Honesty and strong work ethic.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A passion for fitness and health.
- Punctuality and reliability are a must.
- Exceptional customer‑service skills; able to interact positively and professionally with members and co‑workers, exceeding member expectations.
- Strong listening skills with the ability to empathize and problem‑solve.
- Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.
- Completed fitness trainer certification.
Physical Demands
- Standing and walking at least 75% of the shift.
- Talking in person or on the phone at least 75% of the shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. less than 30% of the time.
