We are seeking experienced Senior Plant Breeders with a strong background in horticulture, plant breeding, and genetic improvement, capable of independently leading an international breeding program across more than 60 countries.
The research program will be based at our experimental sites both in Italy and abroad.
The successful candidate will manage the full scope of the research project, including genetic engineering, field trials, and seed production, in close collaboration with farm managers, fellow researchers, and laboratory teams. Once trained, the candidate will operate autonomously, reporting directly to the Breeding Coordinator.
This position offers opportunities to travel internationally, work across diverse markets and cultures, and further develop both professional and personal expertise.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage assigned plant breeding and genetic improvement projects;
* Supervise and coordinate your team;
* Produce breeder seed lines and monitor seed production for assigned varieties;
* Prepare reports on project resources to support R&D operations;
* Ensure alignment with company objectives and international standards.
Requirements
* Proven expertise in plant breeding, horticulture, and genetic improvement;
* Knowledge of biotechnologies and molecular breeding techniques;
* Strong planning, organization, and project management skills;
* Passion for research and innovation in horticulture;
* Excellent teamwork, leadership and communication abilities;
* Willingness to travel internationally;
* Familiarity with company software tools for project tracking and reporting.
