Job Description
About the Role
An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Field-Based Medical Officer to join our company's expanding oncology medical team in Spain, specifically in Madrid, Galicia, or Asturias. As a global leader in healthcare, our company is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that enhance and extend the lives of cancer patients worldwide.
The selected candidate will play a crucial role in one of the most dynamic projects in the pharmaceutical industry, supported by over 800 clinical trials across a variety of solid tumors and hematological malignancies, with numerous new indications set to launch in the near future. This position offers a unique chance to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in oncology while being an integral member of the national oncology medical affairs team, reporting directly to the Oncology MSL Manager
What you will do:
As the selected candidate, you will primarily develop an understanding of regional and national oncology medical and scientific leaders, as well as the healthcare environment in which they operate. You will establish high-quality, effective professional engagements centered on peer-to-peer exchanges of unbiased scientific information and collaboration through medical education and investigation projects. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing appropriate scientific leader engagement plans, while developing and maintaining long-term collaborations with national experts and medical professionals in the oncology therapeutic area.
As a medical ambassador for our company within the assigned area, you will be recognized as a scientific expert in the oncology product and therapeutic area. You will act as a speaker and/or discussant in external meetings and represent our company at relevant international and national scientific meetings. Maintaining the highest level of scientific knowledge in oncology, staying up-to-date on all major studies (both ongoing and completed), competitive product information, and clinical data will be integral to your position.
Through appropriate feedback, you will contribute to the development of the oncology country medical affairs plans led by Medical Advisors, with a particular focus on implementing assigned projects and activities within the medical plan. Additionally, you will function as a medical affairs representative within the cross-functional field-based company structure.
Your engagements will be based on in-depth scientific exchanges in oncology, often leading to knowledge transfer initiatives and research. All discussions with Health Care Professionals will focus on a bi-directional exchange of ideas on disease-related topics, scientific presentations of publicly available data, and reporting scientific results (e.g., discussion of clinical study results) with a fair balance, in accordance with our company and local regulatory standards.
What You Bring:
In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:
A degree in Medicine or Pharmacy; or a degree in the area of Life Sciences at a PhD level.
Specialization and/or clinical/research experience in oncology, hematology, or immunology.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in similar roles.
Previous solid experience in oncology (particularly in women's cancers, lung cancer, GI cancers, head & neck cancers, GU malignancies, or melanoma) and/or experience across a variety of disease areas or with drugs with multiple indications, with experience in immuno-oncology being highly valued.
Strong scientific baseline knowledge, including knowledge of clinical research methodology, implementation, and data interpretation.
Sound scientific and clinical judgment, with an eagerness to learn more in-depth in the therapeutic area.
Full professional competency in Spanish and English.
A proactive "can do" attitude and a passion for the science related to the oncology therapeutic area.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to function effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
Strong, confident, and engaging presentation skills.
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
