Mabxience, a company specializing in the development and manufacture of biosimilar medicines, is recruiting a Data Engineer for our plant in León (Spain).

The Process Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes that support biosimilar development programs and analytical workflows across R&D areas. The primary focus of this position is to extract, transform, standardize, and integrate data from multiple heterogeneous sources — including Excel files, PDF reports, databases, laboratory systems, and other structured or semi-structured formats — ensuring data quality, traceability, and availability for analysis and decision-making. The role also contributes to building efficient data models and robust workflows that enable seamless access to reliable datasets for scientists, analysts, and cross-functional teams.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using Python to ingest, clean, transform, and consolidate data from different sources such as Excel, PDF, CSV, databases, and laboratory-generated files.
• Automating data extraction and processing workflows to improve efficiency, reproducibility, and reliability of data handling processes.
• Ensuring data quality, consistency, integrity, and traceability across different datasets and systems.
• Developing scripts and data workflows to parse, transform, and validate information from semi-structured or unstructured sources.
• Building and maintaining data models, data repositories, and intermediate datasets to support reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
• Troubleshooting data issues, identifying root causes in data processing failures, and implementing corrective actions.
• Preparing technical documentation for ETL processes, data structures, mappings, and transformation rules.
• Supporting the generation of reports, dashboards, and visualizations by delivering reliable and well-structured datasets.
• Participating in the continuous improvement of data architecture, automation practices, and data governance standards.

REQUIREMENTS AND PERSONAL SKILLS

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Languages: Fluent Spanish, working knowledge in English, knowledge of other languages will be an asset.
• Experience (years/area): +1 year of relevant experience in data engineering, ETL development, or software/data process automation.

•Specific Knowledge:
o Proven working experience in data analysis.
o Strong knowledge of Python for ETL development, data transformation, and automation.
o Experience working with libraries and tools for data extraction and processing from multiple formats, such as Excel, CSV, PDF, and databases.
o Knowledge of data wrangling and processing libraries such as pandas, openpyxl, and PDF extraction tools.
o Experience in designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
o Understanding of data models, data structures, and data integration techniques.
o Experience in validating, cleansing, and standardizing datasets from heterogeneous sources.
o Knowledge of scripting for automation and scheduling of recurring data processes.
o Familiarity with dashboards, reporting environments, and data delivery for analytical purposes.
o Experience with version control and software development best practices is a plus.
o Knowledge of statistics or data analysis environments will be considered an asset, but not the primary focus of the role.
