Nexeo Belgium is looking for an Expert Java Development Engineer to join the IT Transversal Capabilities & Functions tribe of a leading financial institution in Brussels.
This mission focuses on building and maintaining core foundations of the bank’s applications, including frameworks, content management systems, API gateways, and integration layers. You will be part of a dynamic Java development team working in an Agile environment, with a key role in document generation and distribution for internal and external customers.
Your mission
As an Expert Java Development Engineer, you will take responsibility for both analysis and development within the Transversal Capabilities & Functions tribe. You will support the design and optimization of the document generation process, ensuring sustainable, high-quality, and business-driven solutions.
Key responsibilities
* Perform functional analysis and translate requirements into robust Java solutions.
* Design, develop, and maintain document generation and distribution functionalities.
* Collaborate with Application Lead Developers, Consultants, and Integrators to challenge and refine solutions.
* Write functional analyses, technical documentation, and user guides.
* Provide expert advice and best practices for client-side and back-end development.
* Actively contribute to the testing phase and ensure quality delivery.
* Share knowledge, coach colleagues, and promote development best practices.
Your profile
Education & Experience
* Master’s degree, preferably in IT.
* Minimum 6 years of relevant experience as a Java Engineer in an Agile environment.
Technical skills
* Mandatory:
* Strong expertise in Java / Spring, OO design, REST, SOA, Selenium.
* Experience with cloud environments.
* Knowledge of Continuous Delivery principles.
* Understanding of Operating Systems (Unix, Windows) and Middleware configuration.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver maintainable, high-quality code.
* Preferred:
* Familiarity with capacity and performance management.
* Up-to-date knowledge of the latest Java and technical innovations.
Business knowledge
* Mandatory:
* Experience with Scrum methodology.
* Good understanding of banking processes and ability to translate business requirements into software delivering real value.
Soft skills
* Team player, dynamic, and proactive.
* Rigorous, methodical, and accurate.
* Autonomous and flexible, able to work across multiple teams and methodologies.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a large organization with many stakeholders.
Languages
* Fluent in English (spoken & written).
* Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus.
