Short term trader

The Short Term Trader is responsible for optimizing Sonnedix’s short term power position across day ahead, intraday and balancing markets, maximizing portfolio value while ensuring operational reliability and compliance with risk limits. The role sits at the core of the trading function and requires continuous monitoring of market fundamentals such as demand, renewable generation, weather forecasts, outages and price movements to identify opportunities and manage imbalances in real time. Acting as a key interface between trading, dispatch, operations, asset management and risk teams, the role supports accurate nominations, efficient execution and reliable portfolio performance. The position is office‑based on a rotating 8‑hour shift schedule to ensure continuous market coverage, including nights, weekends and public holidays as per the team rota and business needs.

• Lead real‑time trading and position management activities, ensuring accurate execution and effective coordination across internal stakeholders. • Contribute to continuous development of trading strategies, forecasting methodologies and analytical tools that improve decision‑making and commercial performance. • Operate in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment to reduce imbalance costs, improve forecast accuracy and drive value creation across Sonnedix’s portfolio.

• Strong understanding of short‑term electricity markets including day ahead, intraday and balancing
  
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret complex market data and make sound decisions
  
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment and make decisions under pressure
  
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with trading, dispatch, operations and risk teams
  
• Tech fluency, including forecasting or data analysis tools, Python and AI‑driven analytics and automation tools
  
• High level of accountability, attention to detail, adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset
