Are you ready to lead a major transformation project within the finance function of a global industrial group? At Hays, we are seeking a Head of Accounting for a unique opportunity to combine project leadership with operational management in a dynamic international environment.
About the Role
You will be responsible for two key missions:
- Set up accounting operations in Bilbao for multiple European entities.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring high-quality financial reporting under IFRS and local GAAP.
You will report to the Finance Director and work closely with senior stakeholders across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the migration of accounting activities and build a high-performing team.
- Manage all accounting operations: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, fixed assets, bank accounts.
- Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under IFRS and local GAAP.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for external and internal auditors.
- Drive process improvements and foster a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the Group.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified accountant equivalent or in France DESCF/DEC
- Proven experience in accounting transfer or Shared Service Center setup.
- Strong background in statutory reporting under IFRS and local GAAP (French GAAP is a must).
- Previous leadership experience managing accounting teams.
- Experience in manufacturing and complex business environments.
- Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel;
knowledge of reporting tools is a plus.
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
