Hartmann Young is partnered with a fast-growing European nutraceutical and functional food manufacturing group to appoint a Business Development / Commercial Manager – Spain, Italy or Portugal.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in accelerating new customer acquisition across Southern Europe, with Spain as the initial core market focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Own new customer acquisition across Southern Europe, with Spain as the primary launch market
- Proactively identify, approach, and win new customers (hunter mindset)
- Open doors at mid-to-large nutraceutical brands, retailers, and emerging megabrands
- Act as a credible innovation partner, not just a salesperson
- Understand formulations, formats, claims and trends and translate customer needs into opportunities
- Translate customer requirements into clear development and manufacturing briefs for internal teams
- Serve as the bridge between customers and production and development sites in Spain and Italy
- Coordinate closely with R&D;, product development and operations to ensure feasible, margin-aligned delivery
- Work closely with the European / Integral Commercial Hub on cross-site opportunities and larger customers
- Support international tenders and multi-format customer opportunities
- Use HubSpot CRM to structure pipeline management, collaboration and handover
- Proactively identify marketing materials and channels that support customer acquisition (brochures, online presence, demos, samples)
- Travel across Southern Europe as required, with occasional visits to the commercial hub in Germany
- Reporting line into the Chief Global Sales Officer / Head of Sales (based in Germany)
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven commercial hunter with a strong track record in outbound new business development
- Deep familiarity with nutraceuticals / supplements / functional food and sports nutrition
- Able to credibly engage founders, buyers and technical stakeholders (R&D; / product development)
- Comfortable navigating CDMO-style, development-led sales cycles
- Commercially sharp, technically curious and innovation-led
- Entrepreneurial, self-driven, low ego and highly results oriented
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Italian is a strong advantage
- French is a plus
