We are looking for a Senior Controller – Direct to Consumer & Marketing to join our European FP&A team in a leading international retail company within the footwear and fashion industry.
This role will play a key part in financial planning, performance analysis, and business decision support for the Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) channel, including retail stores and e-commerce operations, while also supporting marketing investment analysis.
The position is highly analytical and business-oriented, focusing on financial reporting, forecasting, planning processes, and scenario simulations to support strategic and operational decision-making. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams across Europe and act as a finance business partner to DTC and Marketing stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Performance Analysis
* Lead the monthly closing analysis for the DTC channel (Retail & E-commerce), ensuring accurate performance reporting versus Budget, Forecast and Prior Year.
* Develop and maintain analytical models and financial tools, primarily in Excel. Manage and structure large datasets to produce clear and actionable financial insights.
* Prepare and present management reports and performance dashboards for European leadership and global HQ.
* Provide detailed variance analysis on sales, margins, operating expenses and marketing investments.
* Monitor store and e-commerce profitability, identifying risks and opportunities.
* Support financial evaluation of campaigns and brand initiatives.
* Support the development of data automation and reporting solutions using tools such as Power Query, Power BI, or other data management technologies.
Forecasting, Budgeting & Planning
* Coordinate and prepare monthly forecasts, annual budgets and long-term planning for DTC operations & Marketing
* Work closely with commercial and operational teams to challenge assumptions and improve forecast accuracy.
* Support strategic planning exercises and ensure alignment with corporate financial targets.
Business Partnering & Decision Support
* Act as a finance business partner to DTC and Marketing teams, providing financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
* Perform financial simulations and scenario analysis for business initiatives such as: new store openings or closures, marketing campaigns, commercial initiatives, pricing or promotional strategies
* Evaluate ROI and profitability of marketing investments and commercial projects.
Data Analysis & Tools
* Develop and maintain analytical models and financial tools, primarily in Excel.
* Manage and structure large datasets to produce clear and actionable financial insights.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Manage a high volume of requests from multiple stakeholders across the organization.
* Collaborate with commercial, retail, e-commerce and marketing teams across Europe.
* Support senior management with ad-hoc financial analysis and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Controlling, FP&A, or Commercial Finance.
* Proven experience in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and business analysis.
* Previous experience in retail, fashion, consumer goods, or DTC environments is highly valued.
* Advanced Excel skills (essential), including complex financial modelling and data management.
* Strong capability in data analysis and handling large datasets.
* Experience with Power Query, Power BI, or database/query languages (SQL or similar) is considered a strong plus.
* Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work with multiple teams and manage high volumes of requests under tight deadlines.
* Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge business assumptions constructively.
* Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
* Fluent English (mandatory), additional European languages are considered a plus.
* Business-oriented finance professional with a strong interest in retail performance and commercial dynamics.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
