The Spanish Type Culture Collection (CECT) is a service of the University of Valencia (UV), located at its Science Park (PCUV). It is the only public Microbial Biological Resource Centre (mBRC) in Spain, serving as the national reference collection for bacteria, archaea, yeasts, and filamentous fungi. CECT-UV actively participates in European and international initiatives related to the preservation and exploitation of microbial resources, such as the Microbial Resource Research Infrastructure (MIRRI-ERIC). As part of its role in MIRRI, CECT hosts and operates both the Spanish National Node and the Collaborative Working Environment (CWE) Hub, fostering cooperation and coordination across Europe for the sustainable use of microbial resources.
We are currently seeking an IT Technician specialized in web/software development and database management to support MIRRI and related projects (e.g., Bioindustry 4.0, MALDIBANK, Microbes-4-Climate, ResInfraPlus).
Working conditions and salary : Full-time position (37 hours/week); gross annual salary: €43,000.
MERITS (SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE)
Knowledge of API integration and database management
Experience in handling and exchanging FAIR data (JSON, XML, CSV, XLS…)
Full professional proficiency in English
CONTRACT OBJECTIVE
Development of software applications and database management for MIRRI-ERIC projects
TASKS TO BE PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTED CANDIDATE
Design intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly web/software applications for researchers
Integrate services and tools into an international scientific platform
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve data analysis processes
Participate in “beta testing” phases with users, collecting user feedback and applying iterative improvements
Attend project meetings and prepare documents and result reports
Availability to travel, mainly to different European cities
Manage mailing lists and users associated with projects
