The position of Technology Technician I – Basic is available immediately at East Central ISD "Technology Department". All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. Primary Purpose: Perform in-shop and on-site technical work to install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot technology equipment throughout the district. Create detailed installation/repair/troubleshooting service records documenting resource use, repair techniques, resolution time, and any other required information while maintaining proper security and confidentiality. Build new and update existing technical knowledge related to this position's duties.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Install/upgrade/configure operating systems, hardware, and software on computer systems adjusting for the individual environment the computer is located in and the needs of the user.
2. Troubleshoot problems with computers, including networked systems, and find solutions.
3. Provide detailed documentation on techniques used to address work order issues and escalate the issue when a reasonable time has passed without a solution.
4. Provide routine preventative maintenance of computers and other technology equipment.
5. Update software regularly to the most current and/or secure version.
6. Ensure that all tasks are recorded on a weekly monitoring sheet or on a work order ticket.
7. Log detailed information on all actions taken while completing a work order, including the recording of time in eduphoria.
8. Create process and procedure documentation for posting on the technology pages. Update the processes and procedures as more efficient methods are discovered.
9. Maintain skill and knowledge levels through regular education activities such as reading journals, online courses, and other self-regulated activities.
10. Attend and study materials and resources provided by the district in a timely manner and pass the related certification examinations.
11. Create and continuously update a plan for training related to current and future positions.
12. Assist other technicians as needed or when caught up on work orders.
13. Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
14. Complete work as indicated by the Director of Technology, the expeditor, or the ticket priority, in that order.
15. Other duties as assigned.

The technician must have the ability to use time effectively and to stay on task during the entire day
The technician must be capable of accurately documenting time on tasks, tickets, and other duties

High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Possess and retain a valid State of Texas driver's license – the driving record must meet East Central ISD's insurance issuing authority for the operations of school district vehicles in the performance of assigned duties
Ability to detect, analyze, and solve technical problems
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service attitude and demeanor
Ability to use personal computers and office software, including google and MS Office products
Strong organizational skills
Experience:
Some experience in computer troubleshooting
Some experience in networking computers, printings, and other network equipment
Some experience with Windows, Mac, and mobile device operating systems
Preferred Certifications:
CompTIA A+ Hardware, Dell Desktops & Notebooks

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions.
