Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of Lady Elizabeth School, providing quality care and education as defined by the School, its policies and ethos.
- Work closely with the class teacher(s) to promote excellent learning, report on pupil performance, and assist in recording children’s progress by updating relevant records.
- Work with the class teacher(s) to contribute to pupil behaviour management, including implementation of the School’s behaviour policies.
- Assist in preparing classroom and teaching resources and maintain these resources within the classroom areas.
- Establish and promote productive relationships with pupils, model high expectations, and promote inclusion of all pupils.
- Establish constructive relationships and good communication with colleagues to support pupils’ learning and progress.
- Establish good relationships with parents and carers.
- Ensure the health, safety and welfare of pupils at all times by setting a positive personal example.
- Share in supervisory duties, including lunchtime and break, and deal with immediate problems or emergencies according to school policies and procedures.
- Participate in appropriate school-based meetings and training activities, including after hours if necessary.
- Take an active part in appraising own work against agreed priorities and targets in line with TLSE and supervision arrangements.
- Maintain confidentiality and observe Data Protection Guidelines.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of all the children at our School.
- Embrace any other duties within the nature of the post, including working in or out of the classroom.
- Hold a relevant first aid qualification or be willing to attend training.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Experience and qualifications: Successful experience of working with children in a school setting.
- Maths and English GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Certificate as a teaching assistant; Degree (desirable).
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to motivate children of differing abilities.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum.
- Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
