Biobest Spain & Portugal, both subsidiaries of the Biobest division, are main suppliers of biocontrol solutions for the horticultural industry in Spain & Portugal. The main office and warehouse are based in Almeria, Spain.
We are currently seeking a dynamic General Manager to lead our team of 30 employees in Spain and Portugal. As the General Manager of Biobest Spain & Portugal, you will be at the forefront of sustainable horticultural solutions in both countries. Your Mission
As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for managing the company. Reporting to Biobest’s regional Sales Director, you will work closely with the management team in your respective areas.
Your Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategic plans to increase market presence and sales.
* Lead and motivate your team to achieve these goals.
* Commercialize our products (beneficials, pollinators, biopesticides, etc.) within Spain and Portugal, expanding into new crops and applications.
* Oversee sales and supply chain teams to optimize distribution and logistics.
* Prepare annual P&L statements and budgets aligned with strategic objectives.
* Draft and cascade yearly OGAM objectives in line with the Biobest Group’s targets.
* Provide monthly reports on sales, operations, market trends, and key metrics using the MCRS template.
* Ensure product availability through accurate market forecasting, stock management, and intercompany purchases.
* Maintain compliance with Spanish and Portuguese laws and uphold company policies.
* Ensure all products are properly registered locally.
What We Expect From You
* Passion for sustainable agriculture. A background in Agro-science, Bio-engineering, or related fields is a plus.
* Entrepreneurial spirit and hands-on approach.
* Experience in leading, coaching, and building trust within teams.
* Strong strategic thinking skills to address project and partnership challenges.
* Excellent interpersonal skills for leadership, negotiation, and resolution.
* Knowledge of accounting and experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
* Willingness to travel within the territory for customer visits, trade shows, etc.
* Fluency in English.
