As an Aviation General Manager, you'll be at the forefront of that mission, leading complex, multi‑disciplinary teams, elevating performance standards, and driving transformative change across our airport logistics ecosystem. In this influential role, you'll lead within one of the world's most dynamic sectors, working with major airlines, airport authorities, and expert DHL teams to deliver safe, compliant and exceptional aviation services. From ground handling and passenger logistics to automation, sustainability and workforce development, you'll bring the vision and capability to raise the bar and inspire performance at scale.
✅A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE
* Lead end‑to‑end aviation operations, including ground handling, passenger services, baggage logistics and multi‑departmental oversight, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient performance.
* Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, data accuracy, performance reporting and KPI optimisation across all operational teams.
* Champion innovative technologies, such as autonomous vehicles and digital tools to improve efficiency, reduce manual processes and future‑proof operational capability.
* Strengthen key airline and airport partnerships, fostering collaboration, service excellence and long‑term operational success.
* Lead, inspire and develop large, diverse, 24/7 teams, creating a high‑performance, safety‑first, customer‑focused culture.
* Support and embed sustainability initiatives across aviation operations, including waste reduction, energy efficiency and innovative environmental practices.
* Drive large‑scale transformation programmes that redefine how airport operations run, breaking barriers, modernising legacy processes, and embedding a culture where innovation and operational brilliance thrive every single day.
* Act as the aviation ambassador for DHL, representing the business at strategic forums, championing operational excellence, and shaping the future direction of airport logistics through industry influence, thought leadership and bold decisions
✅THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO
* Proven leadership experience within complex operational environments, ideally aviation, logistics or multi‑discipline service delivery.
* Strong knowledge of aviation processes such as ground handling, delay management, compliance frameworks and airport operational standards.
* Demonstrated ability to lead large teams through direct reports, developing talent, managing performance and cultivating an inclusive culture.
* A data-driven mindset with experience using operational systems, analysing performance trends and driving decisions through insight.
* A passion for innovation comfortable driving change, adopting new technologies, and pursuing modern, efficient ways of working.
* Strong stakeholder and customer management skills, with the ability to build influential relationships across airlines, airport authorities and internal leadership teams.
* Experience working with Union partners, with the capability to build constructive relationships, navigate complex industrial environments, and support positive colleague engagement within a unionised workforce.
