INDRA-DEIMOS Electrical Engineer
At Indra Deimos, we’re shaping the future of space exploration with cutting‑edge technologies for interplanetary missions, planetary defense, autonomous rendezvous, and much more. We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer who will support DEIMOS throughout the complete life cycle of electronic products.
What's the Challenge?
Indra Deimos is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join the AIT team in Spain. The candidate will lead the design, development and testing of satellite data and power distribution for advanced satellites, mainly for Earth Observation missions.
The candidate will define system‑level data and power distribution, ensure robust grounding, harness design, and signal integrity, and provide technical authority across all mission phases.
Responsibilities
- Define and own satellite power and data distribution, including interface boards, umbilicals, power distribution units, and regulation/conversion electronics.
- Translate mission requirements into power and distribution concepts, EMC performance assessment, and grounding concepts.
- Lead trade‑offs between architectures (point‑to‑point with interface board(s), direct connection(s), backplane, etc.).
- Generate and maintain EMC, grounding, harness requirements, EICDs, and interface specifications with spacecraft and payload subsystems.
- Develop power budgets, energy balance analyses, and end‑of‑life sizing for mission scenarios.
- Ensure compliance with mission reliability, redundancy, and derating standards (ECSS/internal standards for NextSpace missions).
- Oversee development and procurement of harness, coordinating with suppliers and in‑house teams.
- Support test campaigns (functional, thermal vacuum, load tests) and spacecraft AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing).
- Act as technical authority during reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR), ensuring system readiness.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior electrical engineers.
- Integrate into the overall satellite mission.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, thermal, software, V&V; Team and systems engineers, to define requirements, interfaces, and system‑level specifications.
- Support the procurement team with technical assessment on the items to be provided.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in avionics, satellite technologies, and space systems to drive innovation and continuous improvement in our designs.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation, including system specifications, design reports, and test plans.
Qualifications
- A recognized engineering degree (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic) or a related degree (e.g., Physics, Maths).
- 5+ years of experience in satellite electrical design and development (or similar experience), including flight projects.
- Additional industrial experience will be viewed positively.
