Position Overview
Barcelona High School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and experienced AP European History and AP World History Teacher to join our Humanities Department. The ideal candidate will bring both subject-matter expertise and a commitment to inquiry-based learning, cultural awareness, and academic excellence. This educator will inspire students to think critically, make global connections, and engage with complex historical narratives.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach Advanced Placement (AP) European History and World History classes to high school students, following the College Board curriculum
* Design engaging, rigorous lessons that integrate historical thinking skills and interdisciplinary perspectives
* Foster a classroom culture of curiosity, respect, academic honesty, and intellectual risk-taking
* Use a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and assessments to support diverse learners
* Encourage critical analysis of primary and secondary sources, historical debates, and global themes
* Prepare students thoroughly for May 2026 AP examinations and other academic benchmarks
* Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support cross-curricular initiatives
* Participate in school events, student advising, and community-building activities
* Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices
Qualifications Required:
* Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field
* Minimum of 2 years teaching AP European History and/or AP World History at the secondary level
* Demonstrated understanding of AP course frameworks and exam formats
* Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to inclusive, student-centered pedagogy
