Position
The CIO will define and lead the Technology & Digital vision for the Group – transforming a largely manual, process‑heavy organisation into a scalable, data‑driven, automation‑enabled platform while remaining proportionate, secure, and compliant. This role goes beyond IT operations. The CIO will act as a strategic partner to the CEO, CFO, and Commercial leadership, translating business ambition into a coherent technology roadmap that supports growth, margin expansion, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities 1. Technology & Digital Vision
* Own and articulate a clear, multi‑year Tech & Digital strategy aligned to the Group’s commercial, operational, and regulatory objectives.
* Define what “good” looks like for the business in areas such as core systems architecture; data, analytics, and reporting; automation and workflow orchestration or AI‑enabled decision support and efficiency.
* Act as a thought leader internally, helping senior stakeholders understand what is possible with modern technology.
2. Transformation & Automation
* Identify and prioritise high‑impact opportunities to reduce manual effort within different departments.
* Drive the transition from incremental improvement to step‑change transformation where justified.
* Leverage automation, low‑code/no‑code, and AI tools in a controlled, value‑led way.
3. Data, AI & Insight
* Establish a robust data strategy.
* Introduce practical AI use cases such as document ingestion and triage, claims and case workflow support and risk, pricing, or operational insights.
* Ensure explainability, auditability, and regulatory appropriateness in all AI usage.
4. Architecture, Systems & Vendors
* Own the end‑to‑end systems landscape, including core operational platforms (CRM, policy admin, claims, data); integration architecture and APIs; cloud infrastructure and security.
* Lead vendor strategy.
5. Governance, Security & Risk
* Ensure technology operations meet required standards.
* Work closely with Risk, Legal, and Compliance to embed proportionate controls without stifling innovation.
* Act as a senior point of accountability for tech‑related risks.
6. Leadership & Operating Model
* Lead, mentor, and upskill the existing IT/Technology team.
* Build a credible technology function that is respected by the business and trusted by external partners.
* Decide where specialist capability should be internal vs external.
Qualifications
* Senior technology leadership experience (CIO, CTO, Head of Technology, or equivalent).
* Background in Insurance, Financial Services, or other regulated/complex environments preferred but not mandatory.
* Demonstrated experience leading technology transformation, not just IT operations.
* Experience modernising manual or legacy‑heavy businesses is highly valued.
* Exposure to PE‑backed or growth‑oriented environments is a strong plus.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Strategic, commercial, and pragmatic – able to balance ambition with execution.
* Comfortable challenging the status quo and raising the bar on what the business expects from technology.
* Able to translate complex technical ideas into clear business language.
* Calm, credible presence with regulators, investors, and partners.
* High integrity and strong ownership mindset.
