Join our Power Transmission & Distribution team as Lead Power System Engineer (m/w/d)
We are seeking an experienced professional with a background in team leadership and a strong understanding of power and energy system modeling. The successful candidate will lead system studies, contribute to team development, and support sales activities in this area.
Our interdisciplinary project teams work on sustainable power supply projects with high renewable energy shares, including energy transmission and distribution systems, grid connection of Solar PV, Wind, Hybrid, BESS, and green hydrogen plants.
The team is based in Munich, with options to work in Fontainebleau (France), Madrid (Spain), Bremen, Essen, Berlin, or Hamburg for the right candidate.
Your responsibilities :
1. Lead, supervise, and ensure quality in Power System Studies.
2. Model networks including national transmission grids, local distribution, industrial grids, island grids, and large-scale off-grid hybrid systems.
3. Coordinate between system studies, network design, and energy system modeling.
4. Prepare, review, and approve detailed technical reports.
5. Mentor and develop team members.
6. Manage complete study projects and work packages.
7. Support proposal development.
8. Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
Qualifications :
1. Degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power systems.
2. Minimum of seven years relevant experience.
3. Deep knowledge of power network simulations including:
• Dynamic and transient simulations
• Grid Code compliance
• Power quality and harmonics studies, filter design
• Experience with DIgSilent PowerFactory, PSS/E, NEPLAN, ETAP, or PSCAD
1. Experience in energy system master planning, grid connection of renewable energy and BESS, high-voltage systems, and knowledge of high- and medium-voltage components.
2. Fluent in English; German or French skills are advantageous.
3. Experience in consulting is a plus.
4. Ability to work independently, flexibly, and reliably within a team.
5. Focus on quality and delivering excellence in reports and proposals.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
7. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
8. Willingness to travel internationally for meetings and presentations.
