As the Category Manager at zooplus, you will define and implement a comprehensive annual category strategy that encompasses key commercial dimensions to drive business growth. This includes developing local campaign and promotional plans.
Working closely with the Country Head, you will ensure the category strategy aligns seamlessly with the broader country or cluster plan for the year, incorporating Business Unit processes, LE forecasting, OBF strategy, and promotional planning.
Collaboration with central teams and departments such as Visual Merchandising (VM), Marketing, Pricing, and CRM will be essential to shape strategies and actions informed by local market insights.
A deep understanding of category dynamics, customers, market trends, and competitors will enable you to identify growth opportunities and address potential challenges.
Additionally, you will continuously analyze key business KPIs across sales, category, customer, and product dimensions, taking corrective actions as needed to optimize performance.
Key responsibilities :
* Recommends adjustments and exceptions of local prices on brand / product level from defined global pricing strategy, with a special focus on OBF by defining the right sources of business.
* Promotions :
* Create a full-year promo plan considering category dynamics and relevancy, aligning local actions with the central promotions team (complementary to global central campaign calendar) and the Country / Cluster Head.
* Actively monitor campaign / promo performance and track budget spend versus local plan.
* Run topical, brand, or product promotions on short notice depending on business needs.
* Shelf management :
* Contribute to the business strategy and requirements to the Product team for product sorting in PLP and search results, in coordination with other Category Managers.
* Contribute to upselling and cross-selling strategies through product recommendations in coordination with the rest of the Category team.
* Maintain a special focus on OBF visibility.
* Collaborate with Graphics and Shop OPS teams for category-related banners.
* Provide inputs for continuous QA processes to Shop Operations and approve any necessary adjustments in category content.
* KPIs :
* Revenue (Net Sales) and margin (CM1) of category brands and products.
* Share of wallet in the category (AOF, AOV, Volume).
* Customer acquisition and retention in the category and key brands.
* Promo spend and efficiency.
* Availability and out-of-stock rates of key brands / products (collaborating with VM).
* Traffic and conversion rates (collaborating with Growth Manager and central teams).
This role will be based in our Madrid office, with a hybrid work environment of 60% onsite and 40% remote work.
Qualifications :
* Relevant experience in a similar FMCG or eCommerce environment, ideally within the pet sector.
* Strong commercial and technical skills with a deep understanding of core business functions and their integration.
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with proven ability to influence at all levels.
* Ability to understand customer needs, market requirements, and an intuitive sense for brands and trends.
* Proficiency in English and native-level Italian language skills.
* Hardworking with a results-focused, hands-on approach.
* High analytical and numerical competencies.
