Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers our cloud services. Our data center construction team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality data centers for our cloud services. As we continue to revolutionize the way construction projects are planned, managed, and executed, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Manager to join our diverse and inclusive team. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the high standard and reliability of our product.
Role Overview
As part of the regional Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Execution Oversight Team (EOT), your key responsibilities include working cross-functionally to oversee project SLA implementation, perform project health analyses, assist with project setup, evaluate site resource effectiveness, conduct audits, and support onboarding and training. The team is dedicated solely to this scope and will travel to sites as per the roadmap and business priorities.
Additional Context
The CO+I Commissioning team manages the end-to-end delivery of new data center capacity, developing leading program management and construction processes to deliver multi-million dollar, multi-year projects successfully.
Responsibilities
* Report to the CO+I Regional Commissioning Director and EOT Team Lead.
* Maintain best practices for quality and cost-effective solutions.
* Create and maintain commissioning and financial reports for project status updates.
* Travel to projects to ensure operational consistency, including setup, onboarding, audits, and resource assessments.
* Develop and report on the scope and schedule of commissioning processes.
* Evaluate project status and develop solutions to ensure safe, on-budget, and timely delivery.
* Coach and mentor project teams, refine practices, and develop commissioning procedures.
* Provide training on commissioning processes and systems.
* Oversee vendor performance and review contracts for compliance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* Construction QA/QC experience
* Project Management skills
* Knowledge of Data Center Operations and Maintenance
* Understanding of UPS, switchgear, generators, and mechanical systems
* Ability to develop detailed Commissioning Scripts
* Issue resolution skills
* Proficiency with MS Office, Visio, Project, Teams
Required Education/Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Technology, Computer Science, or related field, with technical engineering experience
* Significant experience in Data Center construction and/or commissioning
* Experience with electrical and mechanical testing equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
* NFPA-70E certification
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years.
