We do our work as a remote team, delivering cloud‑native solutions across public and private clouds.
Responsibilities
*
* Work on large‑scale, distributed systems to drive Hive innovation and build additional components.
* Create products addressing complex SQL query workloads on public or private clouds within the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP).
* Design and develop features for parallel and distributed query engines, advancing innovation in CDP.
* Focus on query optimization, performance, and scalability of SQL queries.
* Write design documentation for key features and capabilities.
* Improve code quality through tests, automation, and code reviews.
* Understand customers’ workloads and deliver effective technical solutions.
Qualifications
*
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 6+ years of experience.
* Experience with query optimization tools such as Apache Calcite.
* Strong coding discipline, attention to detail, and quality focus.
* Proficiency in data structures and algorithms; programming in Java is desired.
* Solid understanding of database internals, query processing and SQL query optimization.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate on cross‑functional projects.
Preferred Background
*
* Contributions to open‑source Apache projects (Hive, Impala, Calcite) or other RDBMS.
* Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem and file formats such as Parquet and ORC.
* Familiarity with public cloud infrastructures (Azure, AWS, GCP).
* Recognized contributions to open‑source initiatives.
