Important Cosmetic Company is looking for a Packaging Development Engineer based in Barcelona. The position serves as a key technical resource to assist in the development and design of packaging materials that meet product specifications and consumer needs. Responsibilities include generating new packaging for product launches, evaluating new suppliers, collaborating on supply and package options, and managing design-to-value projects to support project implementation. The Packaging Development Engineer will have end-to-end packaging responsibility for each NPD, Business Continuity, and Cost Savings project.

Functions
* Generate and execute NPD and EPD projects ensuring brand relevance.
* Design packaging considering marketing briefs, formula requirements, factory capabilities, supply chain factors (LT, MOQ), and procurement costs.
* Work closely with marketing to investigate packaging options and costs, including preliminary BOM, supplier coordination, and cost analysis.
* Collaborate with formulation and testing labs to ensure container-product interaction and compatibility.
* Coordinate with Packaging Engineering for tests to ensure proper interaction among container, product, and packaging line.
* Manage cost estimations with Finance and Innovation Operations to keep COGs on target and meet GM objectives.
* Support factory first-run production when necessary.
* Provide innovation in performance, shapes, and sustainability, keeping up with industry trends and technological innovations.
* Maintain all packaging documentation, including BOMs, technical specifications, and quality standards.
* Support quality issues and acceptance criteria.
* Lead Design to Value (DTV) projects to improve performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness, collaborating with suppliers and procurement.
* Support sourcing changes driven by economic or supply considerations.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Basic knowledge of packaging materials and technologies.
* Desirable 3-5 years of experience in packaging development, with a proven track record.
* Fluent in Spanish and English.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
