FUNCTIONS
Our client is a pharmaceutical and biotechnological company focused on prevention and diagnosis for animal and human health, with a broad range of highly innovative vaccines and an advanced diagnostic service. The company has a solid international presence in more than 40 countries, with subsidiaries, 11 diagnostic centres, and 6 production plants strategically located in Europe (Spain) and America (Brazil). Research and Development constitute the core of its knowledge, dedicating 15% of its annual turnover to R&D activities that focus on applying the latest scientific advances to develop high-quality innovative vaccines. The company also develops medical devices and traceability services to add value to its vaccination experience.
We are seeking a talented Fully or Partially Qualified European Patent Attorney for our headquarters in Girona, Spain.
Responsibilities
* Assess innovative R&D developments with scientific staff and business units, providing IP advisory services.
* Prepare patent landscape and FTO analysis for EU and global R&D pipeline.
* Perform state-of-the-art and patentability search reports.
* Maintain internal IP databases.
* Manage global patent prosecution.
* Draft and handle oppositions, appeals, and observations before the EPO.
* Provide validity opinions and infringement advice to R&D and business units.
* Implement confidentiality actions to safeguard IP.
* Provide technical support for business development.
Requirements
* Fully or partly passed EQE (European Qualifying Examination) (mandatory).
* Solid scientific background (Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals, or related Life Science disciplines).
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and preparing patentability and FTO reports.
* Experience in biologicals and biotech products is appreciated.
* Excellent command of English and Spanish; French and German are a plus.
* Strong technical, writing, communication, and analytical skills.
* Ability to analyze large data volumes and suggest actionable decisions.
* Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
* Highly responsible, meticulous, and able to prioritize workloads efficiently.
