Director of Business Development
Home-based in Spain
We're seeking a driven, self-motivated, sales-oriented, passionate, organized, and determined to succeed Director of Business Development to join our growing team.
As a Business Development Director, you will gain valuable knowledge and experience in the CRO, Pharmaceutical & Biotech industries.
This role focuses on opening and expanding existing clients, driving new business opportunities, and achieving sales targets.
You will maintain the Salesforce.com database, ensuring all client meetings, RFP information, and relevant updates are captured and maintained within Salesforce.com. This is essential for the position.
Responsibilities: Client management
Research and gather intelligence on target market sectors, organizations, and contacts as part of the sales process
Focus on opening new clients and expanding existing clients, targeting companies whose pipeline matches our expertise or business goals
Achieve sales targets, client calls, and visits as per the plan
Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers at targeted accounts
Understand the decision-making process with major sponsors
Share proposal, contract details, client meetings, RFP information, and updates between clients and the company
Develop relationships to generate RFPs
Organize client meetings and congresses as needed
Establish contacts with operational departments
Act ethically to represent Linical
Follow the sales process to coordinate opportunity activities cross-functionally
Collaborate with functional heads beyond proposal development
Review proposal drafts for strategy and pricing input
Support proposal management to ensure timely internal delivery
Interact with clients to gather necessary information
Submit proposals and follow up during the CRO selection process
Manage and Lead the Bid Defence Process
Draft BDM slide decks and work cross-functionally
Gather relevant information from sponsors
Organize meetings per sponsor schedule
Collaborate with presentation participants
Prepare rehearsals (minimum of 3)
Maintain communication with clinical project teams to maximize repeat business opportunities
Support contract processes with legal department
Attend conferences, symposia, and exhibitions
Ensure all client meetings, RFPs, proposals, emails, and relevant information are captured and maintained in Salesforce.com
The right candidate must have the following experience:
Fluent in French & English; additional languages are a plus
University degree in Natural Sciences / Medicine or Business, with profound knowledge in clinical development, pharmaceutical, or biotech industries
At least 3 years of sales experience, self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of facing challenges in a fast-paced environment
Strong presentation and writing skills
Previous BD or sales experience within CRO or pharmaceutical sectors is highly advantageous
