Our Client is an International Corporate Venture Capital with the objective of investing in energy transition technology startups that have the potential of playing a critical role in the decarbonization of the energy and industrial sectors.
Job Description
Reporting to the CIO, the Investment Professional will be a crucial member of a small team which sources high-impact investment opportunities, builds relationships with start-up founders and the VC ecosystem, funds breakthrough technology companies, and works with the portfolio companies through the investment cycle.
Key Responsabilities:
* Form well-articulated theses about key technology categories based on your own research, analysis, and point of view that can lead to effective origination. Advocate passionately for these points of view and find breakthrough entrepreneurs who are aligned with them.
* Respond to inbound inquiries from entrepreneurs, co-investors, and ecosystem partners, developing and maintaining a network of trusted relationships among entrepreneurs, co-investors, university faculty and grad students, incubators, and technology hubs.
* Meet with entrepreneurs, evaluate their business plans and pitches, evaluate fit and potential, and build valuable relationships with the founding teams of startups with strong potential and strategic fit.
* Work with the CVC team, and strategic partners, to source, evaluate, structure investments in, and monitor transformational start-up companies that could have a big impact on climate change.
* Manage DD process of selected opportunities, throughout the funnel stages and through closing of the investment.
* Assist in the preparation of Investment Memorandums and other formal documents utilized throughout the investing process.
* Assist the Portfolio companies in maximizing the value of their partnership with the Client Organization that will lead to a win-win.
* Contribute to thought leadership efforts through conference presentations, white papers, articles, and social media.
* Be able to rapidly take on new responsibilities in a fast-paced growth environment.
Skills:
1. Bachelor Degree in Engineering or similar.
2. Critical thinking, including superior research and analytical ability, high degree of organization and attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple tasks.
3. Intellectually curious with proven ability to self-motivate and direct your own work.
4. Kind, empathetic, and team-oriented collaborative approach.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills that allow you to work with founders, co-investors, investment strategic partners within the Group, and partners of diverse backgrounds.
6. Broad and deep understanding of energy and environmental technologies. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to): industrial, mechanical, electrical, among others.
7. Demonstrated passion for climate change technology within the energy sector.
8. Enthusiasm for venture capital, start-ups and entrepreneurship.
