Your mission
As the Engineering Director at Supernova, your primary mission will be to lead our multidisciplinary team through the next critical phases of our VLM technology's journey — from advanced development to successful industrialization. You will be the driving force behind the continued evolution of our VLM ecosystem, ensuring it meets and exceeds industrial standards. Your strategic vision will guide the mechanics, electronics, process, and software engineering teams, harmonizing their efforts and steering the collective expertise toward the seamless integration of our products.
You will be expected to not only lead but also inspire, fostering an environment where innovation thrives, and solutions are crafted with precision and ingenuity. Your role will encompass the end-to-end management of the product development lifecycle, from defining strategy to overseeing project execution, ensuring every milestone is met with rigor and excellence. You will set up aggressive strategies to get things done on time, with a focus on critical value-adding aspects. By establishing clear processes and methods, you will instill a culture of quality and accountability, maintaining Supernova's high standards throughout product development and industrialization phases.
As a hands-on leader, you will actively engage with your team in design, troubleshooting, and pushing the boundaries of additive manufacturing. Your leadership style will exemplify our ethos of being constantly on offense, taking controlled risks, and driving tangible results.
Key responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for VLM technology development and industrialization, aligned with Supernova's vision and market needs.
* Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse engineering team (mechanical, electronic, software, process), fostering innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
* Project Oversight: Manage projects from concept to launch, ensuring milestones are achieved with high quality, and adapt plans as needed.
* Product Development and Industrialization: Oversee engineering design, ensuring robustness, scalability, and manufacturability, collaborating with manufacturing teams for smooth transition to production.
* Customer-Centric Product Evolution: Incorporate customer feedback and market trends into continuous product improvement.
* Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of ongoing innovation and process refinement.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with sales, marketing, and support teams to ensure cohesive operations and unified goals.
* Process Optimization: Develop and improve engineering processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and speed-to-market.
About You
- MSc or Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- Extensive experience in hardware product development, especially in complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Proven leadership in managing engineering teams and complex projects.
- Hands-on approach in design and development activities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and integration into product development.
- Strategic planning skills for product and team growth.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
