About the Role
We are delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects under the AMP8 Asset Management Programme. As a Civil Engineer you will work with a collaborative Alliance team to design and deliver nature‑based solutions, such as wetlands and sustainable urban drainage schemes, while meeting global environmental standards.
Responsibilities
 * Collaborate with the project design team to produce civil designs for wastewater treatment, pipeline and water storage projects.
 * Apply British Standards, Eurocodes, water‑sector guidance and Anglian Water standards to the design of civil components.
 * Undertake hydraulic design of pressure and gravity pipelines, open channels and closed conduits.
 * Design, schedule and specify pipes (ductile iron, steelwork, plastic) and associated infrastructure.
 * Read drawings and models, produce clear design sketches, and integrate them into the project model.
 * Contribute to specifications, proposals, work scopes and programme schedules.
 * Support Engineering Project Plan preparation and manage design development from feasibility through detailed design.
 * Advise the Technical Manager of any deviations from timescales or budgets.
 * Respond to design queries and change requests during site assembly, maintaining awareness of cost, H&S, programme and risk.
 * Prepare site investigation and survey requirements; record and incorporate survey findings.
 * Deliver procurement documentation in line with Alliance Management System standards.
 * Assist in managing Tier 2 sub‑contractors and perform root‑cause analysis to balance capital and maintenance needs.
Qualifications & Skills
 * Experience in civil design for water‑sector assets.
 * Knowledge of hydraulic design, pipe specification and water‑sector standards.
 * Strong drafting and modelling skills, with proficiency in relevant software.
 * Understanding of project management, health & safety, programme and risk considerations.
 * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams.
 * Commitment to environmental sustainability, carbon reduction and natural capital protection.
 * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
