The GICOM Research Group at the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering, UAB, is looking for excellent candidates to jointly apply for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) 2025 .We are committed to supporting high-quality MSCA-PF applications aligned with our core research themes. Solid-State Fermentation (SSF) of organic waste for bioproducts (e.G., biosurfactants, biostimulants, biopesticides)Anaerobic digestion and biogas upgradingEnvironmental nanotechnology for process intensification or pollutant removalComposting and strategies for greenhouse gas mitigationBiodegradability (aerobic and anaerobic) of waste and new materialsAbout GICOM – What Are We?GICOM (Composting Research Group) is an internationally recognized research group founded in 2000, with a mission to transform organic waste into value through biotechnological innovation. While originally focused on composting, GICOM has evolved into a multidisciplinary platform driving sustainable resource recovery and bioproduct development through Solid-State Fermentation, Anaerobic Digestion, and Nanotechnology-enabled environmental engineering .Our current focus is on :
Biotechnological valorisation of organic waste into high-value compoundsPilot-scale development of SSF and anaerobic digestion systemsIntegrated process monitoring, with emphasis on gas emissions and product qualityBridging fundamental research (TRL 1–2) and applied demonstrations (TRL 5–6)Co-creation with industries and public authorities to deploy circular solutionsGICOM operates within a strong collaborative ecosystem and benefits from state-of-the-art laboratories, bioreactors, and analytical facilities.As an MSCA PF candidate hosted by GICOM at the UAB, you will benefit from a supportive and collaborative research environment that maximizes your chances of success :
