Join our Power Transmission & Distribution team as Lead Power System Engineer (m/w/d)
We seek an experienced team leader with a strong understanding of power and energy system modeling to lead and supervise system studies. The ideal candidate will also actively develop the team and lead sales activities in this area.
You will work on projects related to sustainable power supply with high shares of renewables, including energy transmission, distribution systems, grid connections for Solar PV, Wind, Hybrid, BESS power plants, and green hydrogen facilities.
The team is based in Munich, with options to work in Fontainebleau (France), Madrid (Spain), Bremen, Essen, Berlin, or Hamburg for the right candidate.
Your responsibilities:
1. Lead, supervise, and ensure quality in Power System Studies
2. Model networks including transmission grids, distribution, industrial, island, and off-grid systems
3. Coordinate between system studies, network design, and energy modeling
4. Prepare, review, and approve technical reports
5. Mentor and develop team members
6. Manage complete study projects and work packages
7. Support proposal preparation
8. Communicate effectively with team, clients, and stakeholders
Qualifications:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power systems
* Minimum of seven years' relevant experience
* Expertise in power network simulations: dynamic/transient, grid code compliance, power quality/harmonics, filter design
* Software proficiency in DIgSilent PowerFactory, PSS/E, NEPLAN, ETAP, PSCAD
* Additional beneficial skills include:
- Energy System Master Planning with PLEXOS
- Grid connection of renewable energy and BESS
- High Voltage and Extra High Voltage Systems
- Knowledge of high- and medium-voltage components
* Experience with power system protection schemes and devices
* Fluent in English; German or French is a plus
* Consulting experience is advantageous
* Ability to work independently, flexibly, and reliably within a team
* Focus on quality and excellence in deliverables
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
* Willingness to travel internationally for meetings and presentations
