Who we are looking for
We are looking for a senior optical engineer with a specialisation in ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs). The successful candidate will play a key part in Inmersia’s R&D by leading the development of custom FLC optical elements for near-eye displays and act as a technical advisor in external projects with collaboration partners from industry and academia.
What you will do
* Design and develop FLC optical elements for near-eye displays
* Act as an in-house technical advisor for collaboration projects with industrial and academic partners
* Support the transition from R&D phase to production at scale
* Support the in-house patent attorney in drafting patents for inventions generated during the R&D process
What technical skills you have
Absolute essentials
* Deep understanding of FLC materials and their electrical and optical properties
* Experimental ability to develop FLC optical elements
* Experimental ability to characterise electrical and optical properties of FLC optical elements
* Overview of cutting-edge and industrially established methods for FLC alignment
* Overview of substrate materials used in FLC optical elements
Valuable extras
* Ability to develop custom electro-optical simulations of FLC optical elements
* Overview of scalable methods for manufacturing of FLC optical elements
* Understanding of refractive and diffractive optics
What education you have
* PhD degree in Optics or Material Science with a focus on developing (or working with) FLC optical elements with additional 3 years of relevant experience
* Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a similar field with 7 years of additional relevant experience
* Professional working level of English
