Senior Test Systems Engineer
Location: Bellaterra, Spain. Office‑based.
Responsibilities
* System‑Level Integration & Commissioning: Assemble, debug and commission test platforms using R&D provided subsystems. Drive the physical integration of mechanical, electronic, and software components to deliver turnkey manufacturing tools and establish a continuous improvement feedback loop with R&D.
* Tech Transfer & Training: Lead the formal handover of test platforms to the production team. Create comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) and train test technicians/operators on how to run and troubleshoot the equipment.
* Equipment Validation: Execute rigorous IQ/OQ/PQ protocols for the test setups to ensure all automated manufacturing systems are calibrated, repeatable, trustworthy, and compliant before production use.
* Scale Aging & Reliability Protocols: Execute accelerated aging models and environmental stress testing requirements into executable, high‑throughput automated manufacturing.
* Wafer‑Level Test Industrialization: Support the software and electronic integration of automated wafer probers, optimizing die‑level electrical characterization for speed, yield analysis, and volume production.
* Data Pipeline & MES Integration: Link data flow from hardware DAQs directly to the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and data warehouse.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field (a strong Electrical Engineering background is highly preferred).
* 5+ years of experience in Test Development, Manufacturing Engineering, or NPI (New Product Introduction), with hands‑on experience building automated wafer probers or complex Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) test rigs.
* Proven ability to take prototype test platforms out of R&D and successfully industrialize them for a production/manufacturing floor (including writing SOPs for operators).
* Basic understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, C#) specifically for hardware control, DAQ integration, and instrument automation (e.g., SCPI/VISA communication).
* Deep understanding of electrical characterization and signal integrity. Must be highly capable of debugging with oscilloscopes and SMUs, specifically for high‑impedance or low‑noise analog measurements.
* Demonstrated ability to physically integrate disparate electronic and mechanical subsystems (e.g., syncing a hardware DAQ trigger with a multiplexer and a thermal environmental chamber) into a cohesive, turnkey production tool.
* Proven ability to lead by influence across matrixed R&D teams (Software, Electronics, Mechatronics).
* Exceptional interpersonal skills required to bridge technical gaps between diverse engineering disciplines.
* Capable of proactively anticipating usability risks on the manufacturing floor and implementing robust, error‑proof (poka‑yoke) safeguards into system integrations.
* Highly systematic and objective approach to root‑cause analysis.
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity within advanced R&D environments.
Nice to have (optional)
* Semiconductor & Wafer‑Level Testing: Hands‑on experience with automated wafer probers, high‑throughput parametric testing, and die‑level electrical characterization.
* Reliability & Environmental Testing: Practical knowledge of accelerated aging models, package hermeticity testing, leakage current failure modes, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
* Digital Manufacturing Integration: Proven track record of interfacing automated test hardware directly with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or ERP architectures for real‑time data logging and traceability.
* Neurotechnology & Mixed‑Signal Electronics: Familiarity with high‑channel‑count analog front‑ends (AFEs), custom ASICs, or complex neural electrophysiology signal chains.
* Data Pipeline Architecture: Understanding of SQL databases and automated data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, PowerBI) to track manufacturing yield, Cpk, and test metrics.
* Regulatory Compliance: Working knowledge of Class III Medical Device testing standards and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 60601‑1, ISO 14708 for Active Implantable Medical Devices).
Benefits
* Competitive salary (according to your experience/skills).
* Payflow & Flexflow.
* Private Health Insurance.
* Training bonus for professional development and access to Udemy platform.
* 23 vacation days per year.
* Christmas week off.
* Office‑based position in Bellaterra.
