Machine Learning Manager - NLP & Large Language Models

I am supporting a rapidly expanding, well-backed AI organisation based in Europe that is seeking a Machine Learning Manager to lead strategic initiatives focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs).

The role offers the opportunity to take technical leadership within a growing engineering group, bridging applied research, model development, and the delivery of impactful machine learning systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers developing practical NLP and LLM applications- Establish technical direction for projects to ensure scalability, robustness, and alignment with client needs- Manage full project lifecycles, including design, implementation, and risk management- Serve as the liaison between technical teams, stakeholders, and product management- Coordinate cross-team initiatives and contribute to overall technology strategies
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline- Minimum 4 years experience in AI, ML, or software development- Proven leadership experience managing ML projects and teams end-to-end- Deep expertise in LLMs and generative AI techniques (e.G., fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, pruning)- Proficiency with Python, Git, Docker, and modern software development workflows- Comfortable in agile environments and cross-team collaboration- Professional fluency in English and Spanish
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or advanced degree in a relevant field- Experience with advanced model compression techniques or tensor-based methods
