About the Role
The High Voltage Engineer is responsible for the engineering, construction, commissioning and energization of High Voltage substations and transmission lines, primarily associated with utility-scale renewable energy projects.
The role ensures technical compliance, schedule adherence, cost control, and safe execution in accordance with Recurrent Energy standards, local regulations, and client requirements, supporting development, EPC execution and technical due diligence processes.
Responsibilities
Engineering
* Lead and coordinate HV engineering activities (substations and HV lines) during development and EPC phases.
* Review and validate basic and detailed engineering, including layouts, protection & control, grounding systems, and equipment specifications.
* Interface with external engineering firms, utilities and Owner’s Engineers.
* Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams.
* Manage technical changes, optimizations and value engineering proposals.
Construction Management
* Supervise and coordinate HV construction works, including substations and evacuation lines.
* Ensure compliance with HSE, quality and corporate standards.
* Coordinate subcontractors, site teams and commissioning specialists.
* Act as technical representative with clients and utilities during execution.
Commissioning & Energization
* Lead or support HV testing, commissioning and energization activities.
* Coordinate commissioning schedules with project stakeholders.
* Ensure proper documentation, punch list closure and final acceptance.
* Support grid connection and final handover to the client and O&M teams.
Project Management Support
* Support planning and scheduling of HV activities.
* Monitor and control HV-related costs, including subcontractors and suppliers.
* Participate in technical negotiations with clients, utilities and contractors.
* Support claims, variations and contractual technical discussions when required.
Devolopment
* Support the studies and design of HV infrastructures under development phase.
Qualifications
* Degree in Electrical Engineering / Energy.
* +15 years of experience in High Voltage substations and transmission lines.
* Strong background in: HV engineering and construction, Site management and commissioning, EPC project environments.
* Spanish and English
