Job Description
Your Responsibilities:
1. Act as the internal subject matter expert on battery storage technology and performance for utility-scale energy storage projects.
2. Analyze new and upgraded equipment from a technical perspective to optimize plant performance, collaborating with the Project Manager and supply chain team for tender specifications and evaluations, particularly for PV plants, substations, and MV/HV lines.
3. Stay informed on industry news, technological developments, and new storage products in the BESS sector.
4. Design, evaluate, and optimize PV plants combined with Storage and Standalone Energy Storage Systems during analysis and construction phases.
5. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as NESC, ASME, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, NERC, and UL.
6. Develop safety system requirements and operational safety standards.
7. During project development, prepare optimized PV plant and Energy Storage System layouts, yield assessments, and component analyses to maximize lifecycle value, supporting the Business Development team with technical inputs.
8. Define conceptual and preliminary designs, study requirements, and identify risks from an Energy Storage perspective.
9. Review engineering documentation thoroughly.
10. Conduct technology assessments, cost optimizations, and sensitivity analyses.
11. Prepare technical packages for manufacturer and contractor selection through RFP processes.
12. Review and evaluate technical proposals from EPC contractors and equipment suppliers.
13. Provide data for project cost evaluations, seeking cost-effective design and construction methods.
14. Support EPC in RFP preparation and coordination for contractor and equipment selection.
Requirements:
1. University degree in electrical engineering or related fields.
2. Minimum of 7 years of experience in the renewable energy industry.
3. Experience in developing and constructing PV+BESS/BESS projects is advantageous.
4. Knowledge of BESS products from a manufacturing perspective is a plus.
5. Understanding of BESS technologies, applications, and modeling.
6. Experience with cost-benefit analysis, business case development, technical due diligence, power system simulation, and asset management.
7. Skills in electrical, mechanical, and civil design of PV plants and Energy Storage Systems, including HV/MV electrical design and civil work calculations.
8. Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English; Italian is a plus.
9. Willingness to travel within the assigned region.
10. Strong communication skills and ability to work in multicultural environments.
11. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
12. Integrity and adherence to company policies and ethics.
Professional Skills:
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, QGIS, Office Suite, Rated Power PV Design, PV Case.
