Our team is part of the area Technology, Data and Innovation (TDI) Private Bank. Within TDI, Partnerdata is the central client reference data system in Germany. As a core banking system, many banking processes and applications are integrated and communicate via 2k interfaces. From a technical perspective, we maintain critical functionality on the mainframe but build new solutions (REST services, Angular frontend, Big Data and GCP solutions, and more). In addition to maintaining and implementing new CTB requirements, the focus also lies on regulatory and tax topics surrounding a partner/client. We are looking for a Mainframe Engineer to assist with day-to-day activities.
Your key responsibilities
* Participate in the development team, responsible for functional analysis of epics and user stories in collaboration with stakeholders (business units, operations, development team, Product Owner).
* Support the design and translation of high-level business requirements into software solutions.
* Develop software components on mainframe and related environments, e.g., MQ, Liberty.
* Support the extension of backend architecture, design enhancements, and establish best practices considering development standards.
* Contribute to GCP application development during the cloud migration in the long term.
* Assist the product owner and subject matter experts in stabilizing the application pre- and post-production, providing L3/L4 support for incidents.
* Work and code actively as part of an agile team, participating in sprint activities and ceremonies after the agile working model is fully introduced on the mainframe side.
Your skills and experience
* Knowledge of COBOL, DB2, JCL, OPC is essential.
* Knowledge of Liberty, JAVA, GCP (e.g., Cloud SQL, Big Query) is advantageous; willingness to learn is required.
* Basic technical capabilities and infrastructure knowledge (e.g., Cloud Technology, mainframe migration).
* Experience with SDLC, Change Management processes.
* Experience with development tools like Jira, Confluence, etc.
* Strong problem-solving skills; ability to manage unexpected events efficiently.
* Experience working with Agile/SCRUM teams and methods is an advantage; future experience is a must.
* Knowledge of customer reference data, customer onboarding processes, and regulatory topics like KYC is a bonus.
* Ability to work independently and in a team, targeting goals effectively.
* Willingness to share knowledge and explain technical decisions to less experienced engineers or non-technical colleagues.
* Excellent English communication skills, both professional and informal.
