Business Development & Grassroots Manager - Wilson Basketball Spain

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Are you a Baller who knows how to develop sales and brand opportunities? Are you hungry to blaze a new trail for Wilson through the basketball landscape in Spain to make Every Court a Home Court?
This is an exciting new role created from strong growth of the Wilson brand in Europe, as the Official Basketball of the NBA, FIBA 3x3 and the Basketball Champions League. What a time to join the team as we drive the Spanish basketball business around our local partnerships, to reach more players on more courts, from youth to pro.
You will lead the development of grassroots business in Spain by creating collaborative sales and activation plans with existing partners, while forging new ones with some of the biggest basketball Clubs, Federations and Institutions in Europe.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the category expert in basketball for Spain, by identifying new distribution opportunities, creating strong commercial plans and selling the proposal
- Drive growth of basketball game balls, teamwear and licensed products by selling-in the category product range, setting sell-through activities and collaborating effectively
- Work with the Key Account Manager Spain to manage distribution through the various channels available and provide access to Clubs and Institutions to Wilson direct channels for their purchasing needs
- Provide feedback as the voice of the consumer and customer internally, specifically on range, channel design, competitor and commercial strategy
- Effectively communicate key brand and product stories, co-ordinate initiatives and selling activities during key events
- Attend Global and Regional meetings as required and present the Spanish Grassroots Business Strategy to internal teams
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Planning & Preparation: Prepares detailed plans to prioritise targeted prospects and organise themselves to manage time and budgets effectively. Maintains detailed CRM plans to track and manage communication in a timely and appropriate manner
- Relationship-building & Interpersonal Skills: Expert at building rapport and credibility, in part by demonstrating an appreciation for solutions to the customer's needs
- Listening skills & solution selling: Develops a deep understanding of the consumer and objectives & strategy of the customer, to deliver solutions that change the game
- Presenting: Is articulate and effective in presenting the category and brand externally to customers, and internally to achieve alignment and secure budgets for investment into new partnerships
- Partnership Management: Able to manage relationships in Federation & League Organizations, to identify & negotiate the best partnership agreements, in line with Wilson strategies
- Category Competency: Regarded as the internal expert within Wilson Basketball and able to pass on knowledge to the wider EMEA team, particularly relating to consumer and customer needs
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Authentic knowledge of the basketball landscape in Spain, as a current or previous player, coach or administrator, with established contacts in the industry
- +2 years demonstrated sales experience executing the full sales cycle - prospecting, proposing, negotiating and closing
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the hunger and curiosity to think differently and create new opportunities
- Strong communicator, with excellent verbal and written Spanish and English skills, able to work cross functionally and culturally with European and US colleagues
- Previously managed budgets to deliver sales and margin targets
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Previous experience in event management, planning, and execution is a plus
- Demonstrated proficiency in overseeing end-to-end license agreements and sponsorship contracts, ensuring the execution of partner rights
- Proven ability to collaborate with influencers and ambassadors to enrich the brand narrative, captivate consumers, and drive sales conversions
