At Berneslai Homes, we strive to be an ambitious, forward-thinking social housing provider and employer. Working for us offers you a chance to play a real part in improving homes and communities throughout Barnsley.
Managing around 18,000 homes on behalf of Barnsley Council, our ‘3 Cs’ values are at the heart of all we do here - we promise to always put the **_Customer first_**, have a **_Can do_** attitude to make change happen, and stay **_Curious_** to make sure we get things right.
We’re proud to announce that we are the first local authority to achieve the highest C1 grading from the Regulator of Social Housing following our recent inspection. This outcome means that we meet consumer standards as a landlord, identify when issues occur, and implement plans to prevent recurrence—demonstrating our commitment to providing high-quality homes and prioritising tenant safety, needs, and well-being.
**The Lettings Coordinator role**:
Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service and making a real difference in your community? We are looking for two proactive and organised Lettings Coordinators to join our dynamic Lettings service.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in minimising void rent loss and supporting tenancy sustainment by coordinating the termination, advertising, allocation, and sign-up process for our properties. You’ll be the named point of contact for applicants during the void phase, ensuring clear communication and smooth transitions into new tenancies.
**Key duties and responsibilities of our Lettings Coordinator**:
- Manage property terminations, advertisements, and allocations.
- Log terminations promptly and contact outgoing tenants if needed.
- Gather and prepare accurate property advert details.
- Generate applicant shortlists from the Housing Management System.
- Select suitable applicants in line with policy, bypassing where necessary.
- Conduct pre-tenancy checks and refer to relevant teams if required. Re-offer properties quickly after refusals.
- Keep applicants informed during the void phase about progress and move-in dates.
**What we’re looking for in our Lettings Coordinator**:
- 4 GCSEs (Grade A-C) or equivalent and relevant experience.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office and bespoke software systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of housing issues and their impact on social housing.
- Positive, versátil attitude and commitment to personal development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
