As a Data Consultant / Data Engineer you will design, build, and optimise data solutions that support business processes and decision‑making.
Job Details
Location: 90% Remote (Europe‑based) / 10% On‑site in Cologne, Germany. Contract type: Employee or Contractor. Target start date: July. Full‑time 40 hrs/week.
Compensation
Portugal: €50,000 – €65,000
Spain: €55,000 – €70,000
Contractor option: €300 – €400/day
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and integrations across multiple systems.
Translate business and functional requirements into technical data solutions.
Work with structured and unstructured data to support analytics and GenAI use cases.
Integrate data pipelines with APIs, backend systems, and AI/LLM modules.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, Data Scientists, and engineers to ensure data usability and alignment.
Support data quality, governance and validation processes.
Contribute to data modelling, transformation logic and pipeline optimisation.
Support Agile delivery processes, backlog refinement and sprint execution.
Ensure alignment between technical delivery and business objectives.
Participate in architecture discussions and solution design decisions.
Challenges

Combine technical engineering delivery with consulting and stakeholder interaction.
Work on GenAI‑driven transformation initiatives requiring adaptability.
Coordinate across business, data and engineering teams.
Requirements
Must‑haves
5–8+ years of experience in data engineering, data consulting or hybrid roles.
Strong experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT and data integration.
Ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
Experience with Python and SQL.
Experience with REST APIs and system integrations.
Solid understanding of data modelling and processing concepts.
Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
Strong stakeholder communication and consulting mindset.
Experience in enterprise or regulated environments.
Ability to collaborate with Data Science and engineering teams.
Fluent German and English.
Must be a Portuguese or European citizen or hold a valid work permit for Portugal.
Nice‑to‑haves
Experience in insurance or financial services industry.
Exposure to GenAI or AI‑driven data projects.
Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake.
Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks.
Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Knowledge of real‑time data or streaming architectures.
