We are seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Industrial Designer with experience in developing electronic devices from initial concept through design, prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly.
The adecuado candidate combines a strong sense of aesthetics, materials, and ergonomics with solid technical understanding of electronic components and manufacturing processes. This role requires close collaboration with electronic, mechanical, and production engineers to ensure each design is both functional and manufacturable at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Concept Development: Generate innovative ideas, sketches, renders, and 3D models for new electronic devices.
- User-Centered Design: Apply principles of ergonomics, usability, and user experience to create intuitive and appealing physical products.
- Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA): Optimize designs for injection molding, CNC machining, 3D printing, and electronic assembly processes.
- Technical Collaboration: Work closely with electronic engineers to ensure mechanical–electrical integration (PCB layouts, connectors, sensors, thermal considerations, etc.).
- Rapid Prototyping: Create and test functional prototypes using 3D printing, CNC, or other rapid manufacturing methods.
- Material and Finish Selection: Choose suitable materials (plastics, metals, elastomers) based on durability, cost, and aesthetics.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and CAD files ready for production.
- Manufacturing & Assembly Oversight: Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure design intent and quality standards are met.
- Innovation and Research: Stay current with new technologies, materials, and design trends in the electronic device industry.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- - 3–5 years of professional experience designing electronic or technology products.
- 3D CAD design (Solid Works, Fusion 360, Creo, Rhino, etc.)
- Rendering and visualization (Key Shot, Blender, V-Ray, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of electronics (PCB layout, thermal management, tolerances)
- Experience with manufacturing processes, especially plastic injection molding
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping methods
- Creativity, attention to detail, strong communication, and teamwork.
- Intermediate to advanced English (technical documentation and supplier communication).
Nice to haves:
- Experience developing IoT products, wearables, or medical devices.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards and certifications (CE, FCC, UL).
- Familiarity with 3D scanning or reverse engineering techniques.
