Position Summary
Supervise daily operation of the laundry.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Manage day‑to‑day operations of the laundry facility and coordinate with Executive Housekeeper on equipment repairs and maintenance.
* Oversee washing, ironing, dry cleaning and storage of all laundry items, ensuring that all equipment is fully operational and that all processes meet quality standards.
* Coordinate with all divisions to ensure proper sorting of linen, maintaining strict color and garbage‑free criteria before items reach the laundry.
* Inspect dryers and other equipment daily, verifying lint removal, temperature range, and overall optimal capacity.
* Submit daily inspection reports to Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer, and direct all problem resolutions to the Executive Housekeeper.
* Coordinate cleaning of non‑logo uniform and oversee timely distribution of all linen and laundered items to Front and Back of House areas, including staterooms, crew cabins, Food & Beverage, Spa, Pool, Cruise Division, etc.
* Co‑ordinate washing schedules with the Cruise Division to launder all costumes required for theater/characters on time and to specification.
* Set formulas and cycles for types of linen and soil, partnering with the Ecolab representative to calibrate machines and service them appropriately.
* Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all areas and equipment, and advise the Executive Housekeeper immediately of any malfunctions or laundry concerns.
* Complete chemical supply requisitions, monitor financial budget and work within guidelines, and advise the Assistant Executive Housekeeper on non‑chemical supplies required for laundry.
* Liaise with the Senior Deck Supervisor to ensure all Top Suite items are returned to guests on time and with the utmost quality, and complete quality‑control checks of Top Suite bed linens, towels and robes.
* Review weekly with the Executive Housekeeper the sales and revenue generated in the laundry, monitor and seek opportunities to meet or exceed targets; regularly review financial budget with the Executive Housekeeper to remain on plan for the month/year.
* Own any guest concern in line with onboard problem‑resolution guidelines to ensure maximum guest satisfaction.
* Other duties may be assigned.
* Understand and apply environmental policies regarding collection, sorting and disposal of solid wastes and use of chemicals associated with cleaning, dry cleaning and laundry operations.
* Follow all SQM policies and participate in emergency life‑saving procedures and drills; full use/range of motion of arms and legs and full visual, verbal and hearing abilities required for emergency instructions and life‑boat lowering.
Hiring Qualifications
Minimum hiring, language and physical requirements to perform the job.
* High school or equivalent; a minimum of three years of related experience and/or training in the laundry field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to read and interpret English‑language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds. Regular duties include standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel objects, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing and tasting or smelling. In an emergency the employee may be required to sit, stoop, kneel or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
