Job Title: Architect

Sector: Luxury Residential, Hospitality, or Mixed-use

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Salary: €42,000 - €60,000 p.a.

Overview:

We are seeking a talented Architect (5–8 years’ experience) to join a major international design studio that is establishing its new European office in Barcelona. The successful candidate will work on a portfolio of high-profile, luxury international developments, bridging the firm’s general practice with local Catalan standards.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to full design cycles—from concept through For Construction (IFC)—within a highly collaborative, digital, and design-driven environment.

This position is ideal for a COAC-registered architect with strong technical expertise, excellent design sensibility, and solid understanding of Spanish and Barcelona building regulations, who thrives in an international, fast-paced studio.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Technical Delivery

- Support all project phases (Concept, Schematic, Detailed Design, IFC, and Shop Drawings) for international developments.
- Develop and maintain BIM models (LOD 200–350) in Revit + BIM360, coordinating with global, multidisciplinary teams.
- Produce technical drawings, specifications, and basic calculations using Revit, AutoCAD, Presto or CypeCAD under senior oversight.
- Assist in compiling Scheme Design (Proyecto Básico) and Construction Documents (Proyecto Ejecutivo) packages aligned with Spanish standards when required.

2. Regulation and Compliance

- Prepare or contribute to permitting packages following Spanish regulations (CTE, DB-SI, DB-HE, DB-HS, etc.) and Barcelona municipal requirements (PGM, planning ordinances, Ajuntament procedures).
- Support senior architects in navigating the mandatory visado (COAC validation) processes and liaising with authorities or consultants.

3. Design Technology & Parametric Workflows

- Create high-quality visualisations and VR walkthroughs using tools such as Lumion, Enscape, and VR platforms.
- Use AI tools (Midjourney, Veras) to support concept generation, façade studies, and interior mood development.
- Assist with parametric design workflows in Grasshopper/Dynamo for advanced geometries and design optimisation.

4. Coordination, Documentation, & Site

- Participate in virtual coordination meetings, clash resolutions (Navisworks), and international team reviews.
- Conduct occasional site visits (1–2 weeks/quarter) for surveys, coordination, and progress monitoring.
- Maintain organised project documentation using platforms such as Aconex or similar.
- Contribute to knowledge exchange between the Barcelona studio and global offices.

5. Sustainability

- Support sustainability strategy development, including energy performance analysis, material circularity, and LEED/BREEAM/Passivhaus pathways.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

1. Education & Registration

- Master’s Degree in Architecture (Máster habilitante).
- Mandatory: COAC registration (or eligible for immediate registration via EU recognition).
- Demonstrable understanding of the Spanish visado process and project documentation requirements.

2. Professional Experience

- 5–8 years of professional experience, including 2–3 years on luxury residential, hospitality, or mixed-use projects.
- Involvement in at least 3 full design cycles, ideally with international exposure.
- Experience preparing Scheme Design (Proyecto Básico) / Construction Documents (Proyecto Ejecutivo) or equivalent design packages.

3. Technical Proficiency & Knowledge

- Strong: Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Rhino + basic Grasshopper.
- Proficient: BIM360, Navisworks, Aconex, Lumion, Enscape.
- Familiar: Midjourney, Veras, VR/AR workflows, energy analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of the Código Técnico de la Edificación (CTE) and related DB requirements (DB-SI, DB-HE, DB-HS, etc.).
- Familiarity with Barcelona and Catalan planning regulations (PGM, municipal ordinances, PEUAT when relevant).
- Experience coordinating permit documentation with municipal authorities and engineering consultants.

4. Soft Skills & Languages

- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple time zones.
- Strong attention to detail, proactive, and solutions-oriented.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, design-driven environment.
- English: C1 (mandatory).
- Spanish: C1 (mandatory).
- Catalan: B2+ preferred.
