About the project
The Tarranix Project is developing a three-dimensional photonic chip based on optical transistors capable of processing up to six logical states through light polarization, overcoming the limitations of current binary electronic and quantum systems.
Through the manipulation of polarization and the integration of multilevel logic gates, Tarranix opens the door to a new era of ultrafast, energy-efficient, and scalable computing.
We are seeking a Specialist in Advanced Optical Materials to contribute to the development and optimization of photonic materials that will enable this next generation of devices.
Purpose of the position
To select, characterize, and optimize advanced photonic materials/crystals for the fabrication of the Tarranix chip.
The specialist will ensure the compatibility, energy efficiency, and stability of the materials used in three-dimensional optical transistors, waveguides, and multilevel logic gates.
Key responsibilities
· Analyze optical properties such as refractive index, absorption, birefringence, and dispersion.
· Develop and test materials such as silicon nitride (SiN), gallium arsenide (GaAs), and graphene.
· Conduct thermal, chemical, and structural resistance tests.
· Define deposition and coating parameters to minimize optical losses.
· Prepare characterization protocols and technical documentation.
· Work closely with the fabrication team to adjust processes according to material properties.
Requirements
· PhD or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Applied Physics.
· Experience in optical characterization and deposition processes (PECVD, sputtering).
· Knowledge of spectroscopic techniques (Raman, FTIR, UV-Vis).
· Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and document results with scientific rigor.
· Strong orientation toward detail, quality, and technological innovation.
Position details
· Annual gross salary: €25, monthly payments).
· Performance bonus: equivalent to 10% of the annual gross salary, linked to the final validation and technical success of the project.
· Location: Carrer d'Amadeu Torner, 33, 08902 L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).
· Access to state-of-the-art photonic equipment and collaboration with external laboratories and cleanrooms.
· Integration into an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and materials specialists.
· Upon project completion, if the role remains necessary and performance evaluation is positive, there will be the possibility of renewal or conversion to a permanent position, depending on scientific needs and available funding.
