Role overview
The successful candidate will lead the School of Humanities, shaping its development over two 3‑year terms and elevating the School to new heights.
Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction, ensuring alignment with HKU’s academic missions over two 3‑year terms.
- Ensure the development and adherence to the highest international standards of teaching and research.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to advance innovation in Humanities research and teaching, translating outcomes into knowledge exchange.
- Recruit world‑class talent and build a critical mass of top researchers across all disciplines.
- Enhance integral connections and align with international standards in the fields of the Humanities.
Qualifications and qualities
- PhD in a related field.
- Distinguished record of academic achievements and international recognition in research, scholarship, and teaching.
- Proven record of visionary leadership and administrative experience in a university setting.
- Strong international network and experience securing research funding.
Compensation and benefits
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract‑end gratuity and a University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, professional leave, medical benefits, free access to on‑campus gyms and libraries, and housing benefits as applicable.
