Summary
Incumbent will support a variety of duties within the Community Recreation program, including Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) special events, MWR ITT events, community events, library services, ticket sales, leisure skill classes, outdoor recreation, bowling and other similar MWR recreational services.
Responsibilities
* Provide necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information and support of Community Recreation programs.
* Provide information concerning facilities and operations.
* Ensure adherence to regulations, safety, and security procedures.
* Assist with routine reports and perform clerical tasks as needed.
* Operate a cash register or point‑of‑sale (POS) system, process payments, make change, and handle equipment loans, rentals, resale, and program registrations.
* Greet patrons in person and answer telephone calls, take messages, and handle customer requests or referrals to appropriate staff.
* Support Community Recreation events.
* Assist with inventory control, equipment inspection, and restocking.
Requirements
* Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
* Must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
* Must be 18 years old or older.
* Must pass a pre‑employment physical examination.
* Work schedule may change and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or split days off.
* Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, and at least 18 years of age, must certify they have registered with the Selective Service System.
* Must obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR/First Aid/AED certification, Customer Service Training, and Alcohol Safety Certification within the first 90 days of employment.
* Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds; occasional heavier lifting may require assistance.
Qualifications
Six (6) months of general experience OR one year of experience above high school required.
Qualified candidates will be evaluated against the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (K.S.A.):
* Ability to learn MWR policies, rules, and regulations involving the Community Recreation Program.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Basic custodial tasks (e.g., sweeping, mopping, dusting).
* Basic computer operations and keyboarding, including POS and desktop computers.
* Basic arithmetic calculations.
* Basic customer service delivery to identify customer needs and resolve routine issues.
* Basic understanding of Morale, Welfare and Recreation department elements to answer customer questions or refer them appropriately.
* Must obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR certification, Food Handlers and C.A.R.E training, where applicable, within the first 90 days of employment.
Education
High school diploma.
