The Logistics Engineer / Project Manager leads the technical evolution and modernization of our 10,000m2 self-operated distribution center, transforming a complex, legacy-automated environment into a adaptable, next-generation fulfillment hub using AMR and advanced robotics.
It is a strategic role responsible for bridging the gap between physical hardware and digital systems, managing the transition from legacy software (WMS/WCS/MFC) to a modern SAP eWM environment, reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain.
Responsibilities
Creation of a holistic view of warehouse operations in terms of automation technology, system landscape and warehouse operator needs.
Full understanding and documentation of current bottlenecks in throughput and storage capacity.
Automation transformation and strategy: assess and lead the transition from rigid legacy automation to flexible technologies such as AMRs and humanoids where required.
Systems architecture and integration: master the current landscape (WMS, WCS, MFC) and design the integration strategy to link the physical world with the digital world as the lead for the upcoming SAP eWM implementation.
Financial stewardship and ROI: drive rigorous ROI analysis for all automation projects in collaboration with finance and site management.
Material flow and process optimization: analyze and redesign internal material flows to eliminate bottlenecks and optimize picking strategies, replenishment cycles and packing efficiency.
Project governance: act as the on-site project lead for major technical and system shifts, managing the end‑to‑end lifecycle from concept to commissioning and handover.
Stakeholder and vendor management: partner with site management to assess new vendors and technologies, ensuring system interoperability.
Technical communication: adapt complex technical concepts for different audiences and clearly articulate the rationale behind automation shifts.
Performance tracking: define and monitor KPIs for automated systems, lead corrective actions when performance gaps occur.
Who You Are
Analytical Problem Solver: thrive on making legacy systems perform in a modern context and view ambiguity as an opportunity to propose solutions.
Strategic Executor: design a 3‑year automation roadmap while being ready to troubleshoot on the warehouse floor during go‑live.
Influential Leader: lead through stakeholder management and structured communication without direct disciplinary responsibility.
Systems Thinker: link physical movement to system logic and understand how sensor triggers translate to data points.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Robotics, Logistics, or a related field.
Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years in intralogistics functions with a proven track record in complex warehouse automation projects and lean management principles.
Technical Mastery: Deep experience with WMS environments and specific experience with SAP eWM and its integration with automated material‑flow systems.
Automation Expertise: Hands‑on experience with AMR, AS/RS or high‑speed sortation systems and understanding of the legacy stack (MFC/WCS).
Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
Languages: Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish. xhfqzwm
