Researcher in Computer Vision

Our Global R&D team consists of 1,650 researchers spread across 14 Research Centers worldwide, continuously improving the quality of steel and its manufacturing processes. This involves investigating and developing disruptive technologies, reducing the carbon footprint of steel, and optimizing costs while maintaining uncompromising quality. The Digitalization team, part of the ArcelorMittal R&D Spain Lab, includes more than 70 researchers working on Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence applied to a wide range of activities such as manufacturing, product development, environmental, decarbonization, supply chain, commercial, and planning & scheduling.

Responsibilities
We are seeking a talented and motivated professional to join our team as a Computer Vision Specialist focused on industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in a technical field and a strong foundation in computer vision, particularly in solving real-world challenges. The role involves developing and deploying computer vision models, working with large datasets, and contributing to robust, scalable solutions. Familiarity with modern software development practices, real-time processing constraints, and collaborative workflows will be highly valuable.

Qualifications

Masters Degree or PhD in Data Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field

Strong background in Computer Vision, especially in industrial applications (e.g., defect classification, object tracking, segmentation)

Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries

Experience with deep learning architectures (CNNs, transformers, etc.) for vision tasks

Solid understanding of image processing techniques and their application in manufacturing environments

Proven experience in deploying CV models in production environments

Solid experience in handling large-scale image and video datasets

Familiarity with data labeling tools and annotation workflows

Familiarity with edge computing and real-time inference constraints

Experience with version control (Git), unit testing, and modular code design

Knowledge of MLOps practices

Interest in continuous learning and staying updated with the latest CV trends

Proficiency in English is mandatory; a good level or willingness to learn Spanish is desired
