The successful candidate will lead and strengthen the Medical Statistics platform that supports the research community on research methodology, biostatistics and data-management. The mission of the Medical Statistics Platform is to be a central hub of expertise for clinical, translational and epidemiological research, facilitating study design, data analysis and management, as well as disseminating results, and high-quality training. The platform offers a broad portfolio of services to IDIBAPS groups, professionals at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and other external academic and private organizations. The Medical Statistics platform is part of the IDIBAPS Core Facilities Programme, and participates in national and international networks, such as SCREN and ECRIN on clinical research.
• Strategic leadership and operations: Coordinate the team of statisticians and data managers, ensuring efficient and highquality operations; in coordination with the Core Facilities strategic planning, develop an annual strategic and sustainability plan for the platform; maintain and update the platform's scientific and methodological expertise; provide advanced statistical and methodological support, when required; ensure compliance with quality standards and certification processes, holding the ultimate responsibility for providing user support and advisory services.
• Coordination with the Clinical Research Support Unit: Coordination within the Clinical Research Support Unit to advise clinical research investigators on the services and resources offered by the platform.
• Financial management: Oversee the platform's budget, pricing, ensure financial sustainability, and seek new funding opportunities.
• Team management and development: Supervise the team's activities, foster continuous professional growth, and promote a collaborative and productive working environment.
• Reporting and evaluation: Monitor progress toward objectives, validate activity indicators, and regularly report achievements and outcomes to the Head coordination team and direct supervisor.
Required qualifications
• University degree in Applied Statistics or equivalent qualification in Statistics.
• Holding an Official Master's Degree and a PhD related to clinical research will be highly valued. 4 Experience and knowledge
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in statistics applied to clinical studies, statistical consulting, and SAS programming.
• Knowledge of other statistical software packages such as R Studio, SPSS, or similar will be positively valued.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in team leadership.
• Experience in clinical research. Contributions in articles or competitive research projects at both national and international levels will be considered.
• Experience in Clinical Trials, including both design and the operational aspects required for their implementation.
• Knowledge of ICH guidelines, particularly E9, E10, and E6.
• Previous involvement in the submission of clinical trials to regulatory authorities, and experience providing scientific advice to such authorities or participating in committees related to trial approval or evaluation will be considered an asset.
