FUNCTIONS
An HVAC Engineer in Offshore Construction is responsible for the planning, installation, and supervision of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in offshore construction projects, such as oil platforms, power plants, or refineries.
Below are some of the main responsibilities for this role:
Design and Implementation of HVAC Systems
Design and develop HVAC solutions tailored to the specific requirements of the offshore project, ensuring compliance with safety, energy efficiency, and environmental standards.
Prepare detailed plans and technical specifications for the installation of HVAC systems on offshore platforms or industrial installations.
Installation Supervision
Supervise the installation of HVAC systems on-site, ensuring adherence to quality standards and established timelines.
Conduct regular site visits to inspect installation progress and make adjustments as needed.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
Collaborate with other engineers and technical teams (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, etc.) to ensure proper integration of the HVAC system with other critical systems.
Ensure HVAC system compatibility with the environmental and operational conditions of the offshore environment.
Management of Subcontractors and Suppliers
Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure HVAC equipment and materials meet project specifications.
Manage supplier activities to ensure the proper supply of necessary components on-site.
Testing and Commissioning
Oversee and conduct testing of HVAC systems once installed to verify functionality, pressure, and temperature adjustments, and to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Implement commissioning protocols and continuous monitoring of HVAC systems once installed.
Quality Control and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all HVAC systems comply with applicable quality, safety, and environmental standards (ISO, ASHRAE, among others).
Produce follow-up reports on system status and manage the technical documentation required by clients and local and international regulations.
Problem Resolution and Preventive Maintenance
Identify and resolve technical issues during the installation or operation of HVAC systems.
Implement preventive maintenance plans to ensure the longevity and efficiency of systems once in operation.
Job Requirements
Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience (5-10 years) in HVAC projects, preferably in the offshore, oil and gas, or large infrastructure construction sectors.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with HVAC codes and standards (ASHRAE, ISO, DIN) and design and modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
Languages: High level of English (B2-C1), essential for communication with international clients and teams.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work in a team and manage multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-stakes environments.
