Responsibilities
* Defining cell formation protocols for lithium metal batteries.
* Conducting R&D on cell formation processes for lithium metal cells.
* Working closely with R&D process engineers to increase understanding of lithium metal batteries failure modes and performance, in particular the effect of formation conditions.
* Determining the optimal cell formation conditions (such as temperature, pressure, electrochemical test condition) for achieving long cycle life.
* Design and execute experimental plans to investigate formation parameters and their influence on cell performance, safety, and reliability.
* Analyze electrochemical data (e.g., capacity retention, impedance, coulombic efficiency, lithium plating / stripping behavior) to extract correlations with formation conditions.
* Establish SOPs and best practices for safe and reproducible cell formation at laboratory and pilot scales.
* Collaborate with material scientists to correlate electrode / electrolyte properties with formation outcomes.
* Contribute to scale-up activities, ensuring lab protocols can be translated into pilot- and production-scale formation lines.
* Maintain detailed records of experiments, protocols, and results to support IP generation and publications.

Requirements
* We are looking for a high organizational and record-keeping skills individual. Applicants should have safety first attitude and a high degree of team work, flexibility, and detail oriented open to intense interdisciplinary collaboration, first in an early-stage start-up but moving progressively to an efficient mid-size organisation.
* MSc or PhD in chemical engineering or electrochemistry.
* Experience working with lithium metal anodes.
* Experience with data analysis (JMP, Python, Matlab …).
* Experience with wetting and crosslinking is a plus.
* Experience working on formation R&D is a must (>
* 2 years if MSc, if PhD formation related topic on the PhD thesis is enough).
* Experience working with pouch cells.
