Job ID: 10435322 | Amazon EU SARL (Spain Branch)
The Senior Program Manager, Non-Sort Inbound Network Planning in the STEP organization leads non-sortable inbound volumes and topology planning across mid‑term (1‑year) and long‑term (3‑year+) horizons for Amazon’s EU Non‑Sort (NS) Inbound network. The role focuses on two critical areas:
Developing and executing the CEU+UK non-sort inbound build plan to meet future demand at optimal cost
Driving strategic EU‑wide initiatives to enhance non-sort network design, capacity planning, and operational processes
These responsibilities require managing complex cross‑functional programs involving senior‑level stakeholders across Finance, Engineering, Operations, Inbound Supply Chain (IBSC), External Fulfillment (3P), Real Estate and Transportation.
The role delivers through the main annual planning cycles (SPS, OP1, OP2, QxG), optimizing Amazon’s plan of record for non-sort inbound network investments. The Senior PM owns end‑to‑end planning processes, from establishing non-sort demand forecasts and capacity requirements to identifying solve options and driving execution through Supply Chain and Engineering teams. This requires deep analysis across vendor/seller behavior patterns, non-sort inbound program trends, and seasonal demand patterns to develop risk‑aware build plans that address demand uncertainties.
Working closely with Finance, the role defines optimal investment levels through rigorous evaluation of solutions, including new permanent/temporary sites, retrofits, and determining optimal timing and sequencing of network launches. Critical trade‑off decisions balance multiple factors:
Cost/Risk optimization vs. operational flexibility
Fixed vs. variable capacity investments
Short‑term operational needs vs. long‑term network sustainability
The Senior PM leads complex analytical approaches to evaluate planning challenges, particularly around non-sort node optimization (TNS sites, IXD non-sort flows, 3P solutions, and specialty handling requirements). They articulate recommendations to leadership based on comprehensive analysis of economics and operational viability. Key areas include the Non‑Sort DNA framework defining optimal network configurations, floor‑stack vs. rack storage trade-offs, heavy/bulky item flow optimization, and depalletization strategies for non-sort volumes.
Beyond cyclical planning, this role requires constantly redefining the non-sort network strategy in response to the rapid evolution in the inbound space. It ensures that developments are captured via continuous improvement in EU‑wide planning processes. This requires:
Creating frameworks to evaluate complex business problems specific to non-sort operations
Developing innovative solutions leveraging data-driven insights
Building consensus across diverse stakeholder groups
Driving execution through multiple organizations
Examples include developing the Non‑Sort solve strategy and evolving the EU peak non-sort inbound strategy to strengthen network resilience against demand volatility.
The Senior PM must identify high-impact opportunities across the non-sort network, develop comprehensive solutions considering multiple constraints (vendor/seller behavior, real estate, labor, technology, specialty handling requirements), and drive initiatives through complex organizational structures to successful conclusions. This requires careful balancing of upstream supply chain needs with downstream fulfillment requirements while maintaining focus on long-term network optimization. xpzdshu
